BEOWULF

He is called upon by the king to come in and defeat Grendel the evil monster that has been killing the kings' people.

Beowulf is often seen in the film (based on the poem) as lightly clothed if at all, with a scruffy blond beard and a headband. He is muscular and looks strong.

He is a hero because he goes through dangerous tasks to defeat supernatural beasts and monsters even though he is only human. He compares himself to be greater and stronger than anyone or anything, and he is often very cocky and speaks highly of himself.

Beowulf kills the beast Grendel and saves the king's men from being killed in the night. He had also spoken of battling great beasts in the sea and defeating many large powerful creatures.
